On July 2, 2007, I expressed my view that many lesser-know colleges and universities have excellent MBA programs. I encouraged potential MBA students to consider these schools in addition to "big name" universities.
Cost is also a factor. As a rule of thumb, the total cost for an MBA program is in the $25,000 to $35,000 range. However, some excellent progra
ms cost less. Consider the following, both of which are AACSB accredited:
~ Morehead State University (KY) has an MBA program that consists of 36 semester-hours of study. The in-state tuition cost is $295 per semester-hour, or $10,620 total. This assumes, of course, that the applicant already has a BSBA degree. If not, some remedial undergraduate course work may be required. The out-of-state tuition is $785 per semester-hour, or $28,260 total.
~ East Carolina University (NC) has an MBA program that requires from 30 to 60 semester-hours of academic study, depending on whether or not the applicant has completed undergraduate foundation courses. A fully-prepared entering graduate student should be able to complete all MBA requirements in three semesters of full-time (9+ hours) study at a cost of $8,526 for North Carolina residents or $24,000 for out-of-state students.
Present and potential MBA students should compare the above tuition rates with the rates they will be expected to pay at other institutions.
