Persons who regularly read this blog know that I do not favor online college degrees at any level. But exceptions to this sentiment sometimes creep in. One such exception is Drexel University Online, a subsidiary of Drexel University of Philadelphia.![]()
Here's the reason: Drexel has been accredited by AACSB, the premiere accrediting organization in the field of business administration. But in case you think you will be able to easily enroll at Drexel and pass all you college courses from home, think again!
Drexel Online favors alumni of "Community College Partners " (a list appears on the school's website). It will also favorably consider persons who have already completed an AA or AS degree from any other accredited community college. Thus, if you have completed 60 semester-hours of credit (90 quarter-hours), you might be accepted.
The business online degree that Drexel offers is a BS degree in general studies with a minor in business. That means taking six four-credit-hour courses in business administration. The tuition is $550 per credit, or about $2,200 per course. However, tuition will be reduced by up to 25 per cent if you work for one of 150 corporations, schools or professional organizations that Drexel partners with. Go to the website for the list of partners.
Drexel also offers an MBA "anywhere" from the LeBow College of Business. It is a 24-month, part-time program in a "cohort" format. The cost is $54,000 for the 60-credit (20 courses) program.
