I returned late from a party this past weekend (3:00 a.m.) and turned on the television set while getting into my pajamas. An ad I heard made my ears perk. Here was DeVry University advertising for students. The sales pitch included the following:![]()
- 4-year degree in only 3 years of study
- 80+ locations for on-campus study
- Accredited school
- Free video game just for contacting the school
I remembered vaguely an institution called DeVry Institute, and I wondered if it was the same place.
Well, sure enough--the Institute and the University are the same. In New York and some other places the school uses "Institute," while the remaining campuses use "University." The outfit is accredited by the North Central Association, and it offers the following degrees (among others):
- BSBA - Bachelor of Science in Business Administration
- MBA - Master of Business Administration
- MAFM - Master of Accounting and Financial Management
Courses may be taken at a satellite campus or online (like Strayer, for example), and the tuition is $7,160 for 14 - 19 online credit hours. Individual courses are $575 per credit hour. Note that the per-credit cost is only $377 if you take the full 19 hours.
Only problem: not accredited by AACSB. Once the school gets that accreditation, it might be worth attending.
